Dale L. Koch brings more than 30 years of experience in automotive electronics to DCYI clients and is yet one more reason why so many automakers turn to our company for engineering assistance.
“Electronics has been my life,” says Dale, who holds a BS from Michigan State and an MS from the University of Michigan. “I realized I was going to be an engineer when I took an electronics class as a sophomore in high school. It’s been great.”
A long tenure in the auto industry has seen Dale develop many advanced systems, including electronic modules, communication equipment, multiplexing, software, displays, diagnostics, failure analysis and more. An expert designer of electrical architecture, automotive wiring, and electronic controllers Dale has led diverse engineering teams and achieved outstanding results.
Asked to name his most important projects, Dale cites the development of integrated power distribution systems for Chrysler. Systems that featured all electronics and power distribution in one box and helped change the way automotive systems are designed. He also takes pride in developing the DRB2 electronic diagnostic tool for Chrysler service departments. Other highlights include designing several generations of electrical architecture for the same manufacturer. And when Chrysler merged with Fiat, management turned to Dale to help develop a new architecture that would serve all brands well.

“Chrysler management never gave me the easy projects, because they knew I relished challenges. Still do. Solving a difficult engineering challenge remains a thrill. That’s one reason why I’ve chosen to do consulting work after retirement, he said.”
Dale retired from Chrysler to form DLK3 Consulting in 2014. Shortly thereafter Dale teamed up with DCYI to provide outstanding electronics engineering assistance to some of the world’s leading automakers. That work has included an analysis of all FMVSS Standards and OnStar validation relative to the release of a U.S. version of a GM Opel product
At DCYI, we count Dale as a tremendous asset. He’s worked both sides of the electronics equation, creating both software and hardware solutions. A great problem solver, he’s available to assist with your electronics engineering projects.
