John P. Sgalia brings a wealth of automotive interior and exterior design experience to the DCYI team.

Mr. Sgalia served as Design Director in Chrysler’s product design office from 1988 to 2008. During his tenure, he helped develop a synergy of interior and exterior design elements for numerous vehicle platforms. His vision and process leadership promoted a culture of innovative thinking in the design studios that led to outstanding award-winning work. His ability to maintain a customer-oriented focus helped create products with broad market appeal.

Among Mr. Sgalia’s many design achievements his work on the Jeep brand stands out. As Design Director in the Jeep studio he advanced and protected the brand’s iconic image. His steadfast devotion to the brand helped ensure that all products would maintain the very special identity that has long distinguished the brand and made it a market leader. But he also ensured that the brand didn’t stagnate, taking it to places it had never been.

In recent years, Mr. Sgalia has contributed to the future well being of Michigan’s automotive community by teaching at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield Michigan. He also manages his own design firm, Sgalia Design, LLC of Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Mr. Sgalia earned his Bachelor of Science degree in industrial design at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut. His ability to lead design teams and solve complex problems with a blend of creative know-how and strong interpersonal skills are a tremendous asset for DCYI and its clients.
